Witty Wise's Interests

My interests have been changing from time to time. In the past, I was interested in how to deliver lessons in a Communicative language Teaching (CLT) approach. At the moment, I tend to focus more on how to teach reading and writing. It isn't easy to deliver these receptive-skill lessons in a fun way, especially in a struggle class. However, yesterday I tried Jigsaw reading teaching method in my class and it came out pretty well. My students told me that it was really fun and they enjoyed  the lesson a lots. I thinnk it is great to start a lesson with joy and students all trusted in you.

My interesting to things always change every year. This is the first week of the new year in 2017.It is speecial time to have a good plan for the whole year.

My interesting activities (Suriyong)

 There are a lot of my interesting activities. For example, I really like to do the experimental research concerning metal oxide thin films and like to observe some physical properties of them. The second interesting thing is surfing the internet and this become general activity in my life. The third one is Kung Fu practicing and this is one of my favorite outdoor activity. The next one is computer games and also console and mobile phone games. Although I currently do not much time, I still play them sometimes. The fifth interesting thing is photography. What's more, I hopefully have a good opportunity to travel and work outside my country, Thailand.  

Peter's Interests

Reading has been a major interest of mine since I was in primary school, and I quickly discovered that I loved science and mathematics. When I was in high school, these were my favourite subjects. But at university, I changed to philosophy, especially moral philosophy.

Today, I'm still interested in these subjects, but I can't do mathematics any more - it's something you have to practice continuously to stay good at. I like reading about new discoveries in mathematics, but I can't follow the arguments. I'm better at philosophy.

I also like cooking, but I don't cook very often - it's much easier to buy great food in Bangkok than it is for me to cook.

Welcome to Reading and Speaking in 2017

After a refreshing three week break reading more novels than I usually have time for, along with some Plato, I'm ready to get back to some more serious reading and writing. And you?

Our history - where the class has been

It's always been difficult giving potential new students a good idea of what the Reading and Speaking class does. When this came up again a few days ago, I decided that the best solution was to create an evolving list of the class materials. This lets people see what we have read and the sorts of questions we then discuss based on the reading, and before we get to the reading.

  It's a Google Doc that anyone with the link can read at any time. 

My plan is to add new material at the top, so I've already created the entry for term 1 of 2017, which will be filled in later. 

Over the break, I will also go backwards in our history a bit more, adding material from 2015, and perhaps earlier. We really have read a great variety, both of topics and of types of texts.
